MS Word 2010 may give you this useless info box “Export failed due to an unexpected error” when attempting to convert a doc file to a pdf.
Here’s a new fix from a bulletin board:
- Go to Windows\System32.
- Find t2embed.dll (you must set the option to see all files and folders in windows explorer).
- Open properties.
- Open security tab.
- Select ‘Everyone’ or whatever users you are trying to allow.
- Click Edit.
- Check Full Control allow All.
- Click Apply/Okay.
Problem solved.
If that doesn’t work, try scrolling to the MS fix partway down this page and click on the “Enable” box. That should do the trick.
Thanks.
But when i try to click apply it comes up unable to save permission changes on t2embed.dll.
Do you know how I can make that work?
Thank you
Do you have Administrator privileges? Perhaps that’s why it won’t take.
Thanks
Do you know how I could change that ?

Have to do a lot a search to find this website but worked as a treat.
Thank you
Glad you were able to find it. It’s one of the more popular fix-it posts on my site.
