Hard drive enclosure blues

I‘ve experimented with a number of hard drive enclosures. To date, I’ve not had much success with AcomData or MadDog. Both of these hard drive enclosures have turned out to be unreliable, to say the least.

  • I could never get the AcomData to work out of the box.
  • The MadDog stopped working a couple of days ago, although the disk inside is still good. I guess that makes it a real dog.

Both the AcomData and the MadDog took IDE drives, not so up-to-date any longer.

So, just to further muddy the waters, I’m trying a LanDisk 3.5″ enclosure, model GXT-MS348S with a USB2.0 and LAN interface. It requires a SATA hard drive on the inside.

We’ll see how it goes.
